Ikaria cooking and longevity workshops, shows you the way to live healthy and longer. Life experience and tasty food from a Blue zone.
Join us for two very special workshops at the Lemon and Sage Artisan Kitchens. Our guests, Georgios and Eleni, are traveling all the way from Greece to share the centuries-old cooking philosophies of Ikaria- directly connecting food with health and longevity-with you!
This workshop is a “package” of 4 things under one event. 1) Cooking classes of the Ikaria cookery – full presentation of the special way to cook without “killing” the nutrients 2) A full meal with wine or other beverage, and the way of how we dine in a Blue zone 3) Information about proper food and how proper foods can benefit health by developing the gut microbiome 4) Tips for healthy living and longevity.
The traditional diet of Ikaria is plant based and it is considered as the healthiest and one of the tastiest cuisines in the Mediterranean area. The cookery of Ikaria, even though it is a Greek island, has significant differences from the other Greek cuisine as it is mostly plant based recipes. The cooking methods are also unique as there is no frying, no grill and food will be prepared in the lowest possible temperature.
The recipes in the workshops will be vegan and vegetarian, focusing on preparing foods like legumes, vegetables and pies. Making filo from scratch. Making sourdough bread from scratch. Making vegetable pasta from scratch. Using organic whole grain flour, organic legumes and other ingredients, we will cover not only main dishes but also dips, cookies and ideas for healthy breakfasts. Participants can come either one both days as different recipes will be shared each day.

Is this a demo or hands-on cooking class?
This is a hands-on cooking class. Be prepared to cook in groups or pairs.
Should I eat a snack before class?
There is plenty of food served at the end of each class. Water flavored with lemon, herbs and vegetable is provided at each class. Full dinner at the end of the workshop.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Children ages 13 and over are considered participants of the class and are charged at full price. Children 12 and under cannot join this workshop
What can I bring into the event?
For hands-on classes please wear close-toed shoes and tie back long hair. You are welcome to bring a phone or camera. No pets allowed.
Is my registration/ticket refundable or transferrable?
Yes. You will receive a full refund in case the organizer cancels the workshop. The $50 down payment is not refundable if you cancel your registration or if you can’t make it to class. The balance of $50 will be paid cash to the organizers before class starts
